Memphis, July 2013

My first conference I was able to attend was on Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED), in Memphis, TN.  I had been to Tennessee many times before, but never Memphis.  This was a really great first conference experience – our work was honored with the Best Paper Award!  Outside of academics, though, this was a time of interesting connections, good food, and really cool culture.

I discovered three really cool things in Memphis.

(1): They have 100 fiberglass tigers all around their city, one for each year of a centennial anniversary.  I found about 15 by just wandering around the area.

(2) Not far from campus there is a beautiful outdoor garden area.  Ryan and I walked there (finding some tigers along the way) and ended up in a treehouse!  This place was fun to explore.

(3) I’m a street!
