Oh yes! Malaysia boleh! In April I married my fiance. After our American ceremony in Pittsburgh, we flew back to Malaysia in May to celebrate with his extended family and have wedding #2 there, complete with tea ceremony. It was great to return and spend time with his family. They were amused by and had a good humor about a poor white girl fumbling through all of their traditions 😉
K’s mom’s side typically wear cheongsams for important occasions, and so the search was on to find one for me. It was quite a feat, since most do not come in size “American”. After a bit of a search, though, we found one! His family also treated me to a makeup artist and hairstylist who did me up in a typical Malaysian way. It was fun to try out for the day, though since I usually don’t wear makeup, I didn’t look anything like myself at the end of it!
